Vice President of Engineering (SF)


Fluid's Vice President of Engineering is responsible for the long term vision and day-to-day tactics of running Fluid's software engineering department. This is a unique opportunity to join, at a senior level, a company recognized as a pioneer in online retail and Rich Internet Application development. Based in our San Francisco headquarters, you'll bring cohesion to a distributed group, becoming the face of our engineering department.

The Vice President of Engineering will work with the Fluid's Directors of Engineering to ensure that the team is efficiently delivering high quality code. The main direct responsibilities of the Vice President of Engineering position are reducing the cost of the delivery of engineering services and overseeing the recruiting of new engineers. The tasks awaiting the Vice President of Engineering are:

  • Make staffing assignments for the engineering team
  • Maximize the utilization rate of the team
  • Decide when to hire contractors, and hire them as needed
  • Expand our offshore development capabilities, in a cost-effective and scalable way
  • Hire engineering employees
  • Oversee our college recruiting program, organizing and attending job fairs, information sessions, and on-campus interviews
  • Provide technical input to our business development efforts
  • Oversee the work of Fluid's Directors of Engineering

While not strictly required, we would also value experience in ecommerce platform development (especially with Demandware), object oriented software development, and web software development (including technologies like Adobe Flash and Flex, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, and PHP).
