Innovative Timberland Configurator Launches

Application Redefines State of the Art for Custom Product Configuration

San Francisco, Calif.- September 14, 2005 - Fluid today announced the launch of Timberland's "Build Your Own Boot Studio" marking the debut of the truly unique experience for creating a custom configured products. Unlike the technology used in many configurators, Fluid's technology provides customers instant gratification by updating the product's visual presentation virtually instantly, without a server round trip and without the large initial download required by many Flash-based configurators.

While full details of Fluid's configurator technology will be released at a later date several major innovations were created through the collaboration of Fluid and Timberland.

  • The ability to perform a 360 degree rotation of a custom configured boot, while maintaining all custom attributes with zoom available for every point of the rotation.
  • Pre-built "recipes" that serve as suggestions at key points in the configuration process, dramatically reducing dropout by design averse individuals.
  • "Mutually Affective UI" that indicates to users how to change an attribute when mousing over the product image.
  • Integrated cross-sell functionality, marketing related items to individuals based upon custom configured attributes.

The Timberland project is the most recent product configurator launched by Fluid building upon projects built for Design Within Reach, Air Treks and Avery Funstamps.com.
