Spring 2014 Fashion Week(s) and Tech Roundup

The whirlwind month that makes up the global fashion weeks (NYC, London, Milan, Paris) has shown that tech and fashion are now even more intertwined than before.  Here’s our quick take:

Instagram & Fashion Get Cozy

The two have gone from casual dating to full-on relationship with many brands using the medium to not only broadcast looks from shows, but also backstage goodies and a closer connection with our favorite designers.  Winners in the space include: Alice & Olivia, Rodarte, and Prabal Gurung, not to mention the week’s official instagram account.

Fashion Editorials Have a New Home

Vogue Instagram

Vogue magazine featured three photoshoots entirely via Instagram during NYC fashion week, which were photographed using an iPhone.  While we missed the large format glossy versions, we were still intrigued by the stories behind the shoots (you can see them in their entirety by either following vogue or using the hashtags #wednesdaybreakmyheart, #onestopshopnyc, and #sleepwalksnewyork.

Tech & Fashion Brands Team Up

Burberry show live stream via iPhone 5S

Burberry and Apple partnered to stream and show pics via the iPhone’s 5S’s iSight camera.  The result presents a compelling case for the camera (and the clothes).

Google Glass Stakes a Claim

Google Glass Instagram

Keeping with our earlier observation that Glass wants its place among the beautiful & fashionable, Google Glass continued to make itself known at Fashion Week (for better or worse).  This time Glass was found outside of the shows as well as in an editorial in the September issue of Vogue magazine.
